Our Trees ~ Our Family

Apples are our number one business, and a year round job!
At this time we have around 70 acres of apples, the Jonathan apple has been raised for over 100 years in this area and is still one of our favorite apples.
These desirable qualities are credited to our climate and the rare soil of the Loess Hills on which our orchards are planted.  Loess soil is very light yellow in color and contains very little clay.
We still raise a a number of the old varieties, but plant new varieties each year.  When you visit, plan to take home a selection of Lodi, Wealthy, Earligold, Paula Red, Gala, McIntosh, Grimes Golden, Jonathan, Jon-a-del, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, Haralson, Chieftan, Red Delicious, Winesap or Granny Smith.
Many of our varieties can be shipped to family and friends for the holiday season.

Jonathan

Jonathan variety was discovered as a chance seedling in the 1820s. It received its name from the man who first promoted it.
This crimson apple (with touches of green) has a spicy tang that blends well with other varieties in sauces and ciders. Also an excellent general eating apple.
Our Jonathan apple is acclaimed as the best eating apple in the world, and we agree.

Spring

Apple Blossom Time, a beautiful time to visit when most of the trees are in full bloom.

Fall

Fall is the time to visit for apples, the trees aren't as pretty, but the apples are great!

Spring and Winter

We prune trees all winter and spring, and spend the summer spraying, mowing and checking our orchards.

Apple Picking

We pick apples from mid-July to the last  of October.  Plan to stop by!!

Our Family

We invite you to stop by soon to visit our orchards, sample our apples, sip our cider, and just plain make yourselves at home.
